E-Book Surge During The Lockdown
With so many kids and parents staying at home in recent weeks, the search volume on Google for " ebooks for kids" grew by a factor of 10!
This surge directly translated into increased sales of children's books on Amazon. The store's top 100 bestseller list, which is usually occupied by romance, mystery, thriller and suspense, sci-fi, and select few nonfiction titles, suddenly featured children's books all over the place.
And one format benefited the most: e-books for kids! The share of e-books in the kids' bestseller lists doubled.
As a result, the Amazon Kindle Children's eBook bestseller list showed a 49% improvement in average sales rank in April. It even overtook Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Teen & Young Adult, and Nonfiction.
